ABSTRACT

The decline of organized employment, limited job opportunities and prevalence of alarmingly high level of unemployment amidst the social and political unrest in many parts of Northeast India are the major factors that coerce migration into metropolitan cities. Migration to Delhi, despite social discrimination and many other problems, shows the gravity of unemployment in the Northeast, and the Tangkhuls of Manipur in particular.
