ABSTRACT
Traditional right-wing extremism in the United States, the skinhead movement excepted, appears to be on the decline at least in numbers. Law enforcement efforts, civil suits, and a general decline in popular racism and anti-Semitism have all contributed to the decline of the Ku Klux Klan and like groups. There are several organizations dedicated to the propaganda of extremism and to political action. The best known and perhaps most effective are Willis Carto's Liberty Lobby and, until recently, the associated Institute for Historical Review. Through the years the Lobby and its associated publications and organizations have promoted an agenda, under the guise of patriotism and anticommunism, that uses anti-Zionism and Holocaust denial as vehicles for the promotion of anti-Semitism. "International Bankers", the Trilateral Commission, and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) figure prominently in the Lobby's defense of the American way of life.
