ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with a number of issues and tried to come to the heart of basic principles that should really underpin a proper Code of Practice for pupils and students who are physically disabled or have medical conditions. There are a number of reasons why the study of motor learning and physical development is important for those interested in the education of children and young people who are physically disabled. The Bobath treatment aims to give the child the experience of more normal posture and movement. Hands on treatment is essential, otherwise effort will increase the abnormal or rigid patterns and the child will not be able to succeed. Sport psychology is a positive way to look upon the learning and development of physical skills because the learner takes full responsibility for and has full involvement in, his or her own learning.
