ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors perform a conversation about their own power and gender dynamics as frame for analyzing fat positive trans/gender non-binary young adult fiction. The authors create transformative possibilities for countering fat shame through queer love, dominance/submission, and its narrative representation. In re-scripting childhood bullying and ongoing experiences of ensuing body disconnections, this conversation draws on Afrofuturism, femme, and trans narratives to reframe food, fatness, and eating toward textual celebrations of fat queer/trans bodies and the desires that animate them.
