ABSTRACT

With Trump reigning in the US, and the ongoing Brexit coupled with a “crackdown on migration” in the UK, both destinations are likely to become less attractive for Indian students seeking to study abroad. At the same time, there is a substantial growth of English language programmes all over the European continent. In addition, the EU recently updated its Directive setting out the conditions for admission for students which includes some innovations such as a guaranteed post-study work search period. In the light of these developments, this seeks to examine the legal state of affairs for students from outside the EU seeking to study in the EU, with a special emphasis on Indian nationals.
