ABSTRACT

A 15-year-old boy is brought to the emergency department complaining of a headache. He reports a headache intermittently for the past few months, but it has been mild. Recently, his headaches have been occurring more frequently, waking him from sleep, and have become more severe. He has not been able to attend school and is not able to play with his friends due to his headache. He describes the pain as “aching” and located around his entire head. He was previously healthy and does not have a history of migraines. No head trauma is reported. He denies any fever, cough, rhinorrhea, neck pain, abdominal pain, tinnitus, sore throat, dizziness, blurry vision, difficulty ambulating, or numbness, tingling, or weakness of his extremities.
