ABSTRACT

A 4-year-old female is brought to the emergency department because of a “lump in her groin.” The parents noticed the swelling earlier in the day. The swelling increases in size when she cries. The patient is otherwise doing well. The parents deny any recent illnesses. The patient has been eating well and she is not complaining of any pain. The parents have never noticed this swelling before. No vomiting, diarrhea, rhinorrhea, fevers, abdominal pain, or dysuria are reported.
