ABSTRACT

An 18-month-old girl presents to the emergency department for a limp which has been present for the past day. There is no history of fevers or URI (upper respiratory infection) symptoms. The parents deny any trauma or falls. She has been crying on and off for the past day but otherwise is eating and drinking normally. She has no other symptoms. On physical exam, she is able to bear weight on both of her legs but appears uncomfortable when doing so. There is no erythema, swelling, or warmth of the joints and she has full range of motion of both lower extremities without discomfort. A radiograph of her lower leg shows a fracture.
