ABSTRACT

A 10-day-old baby girl is brought into the emergency department by the parents after they noted redness and swelling around the umbilical stump. The baby is a term infant, born via vaginal delivery at 38 weeks gestational age. The mother had prenatal care and denies any perinatal infections or complications. The mother has had a history of “boils” in the past but did not have any during her pregnancy. The baby has been feeding well and there is no history of fever.
