ABSTRACT

A 7-year-old male with a history of egg allergy presents to the emergency department after accidently sticking himself with his own EpiPen® (epinephrine autoinjector). He is complaining of pain and his father reports that his thumb has been cold and pale. He denies systemic symptoms including palpitations, sweating, or shakiness. Before this event, he had been feeling well. Past medical history is significant for mild persistent asthma and egg allergy. Other than the autoinjector, he takes an inhaled corticosteroid twice a day and albuterol as needed.
