ABSTRACT
A 5-year-old girl presents with fever, back pain, and difficulty walking. On exam, she is febrile, tachycardic, and uncomfortable appearing. Her neurologic exam is notable for reduced strength in both lower extremities and hyperreflexic deep tendon patellar reflexes.
