ABSTRACT

This chapter explores some of systems theories and practices in more depth. Sport, exercise and performance all generally fall under the umbrella of terms used to describe fields in which the goal is to help people perform at their best. Sport is a category within that umbrella to that involves physical exertion, skill and competing against others. The intention of sports is to compete and the intention of exercise is health and fitness. Organizational psychology has many facets that are very similar to sport psychology. The field of organizational psychology has enormous breadth around areas of increasing workplace productivity and organizational effectiveness. Testing and assessments in the workplace have been used with caution and are prohibited at some companies, for many reasons. Tests of personality measure a variety of factors that indicate success on the job, including conscientiousness, emotional intelligence, stress tolerance, initiative and openness to new experiences.
