ABSTRACT

Females have a genetic predisposition to fat accumulation of the hips, outer thighs, and buttocks. The ‘‘violin’’-shaped deformity describes the common pattern of fat overlying the iliac crest and the subtrochanteric area with an intervening gluteal depression. In anteroposterior view the contour mimics the shape of a violin. Liposuction can restore aesthetic balance to the disharmonious physique.
