ABSTRACT

The glycopeptide-secreting tumors, which may produce thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), folliclestimulating hormone (FSH), or luteinizing hormone (LH), are all uncommon and are usually inactive but may present with postmenopausal bleeding in women and rarelywith premature puberty. Thyroid-stimulating hormone-secreting pituitary tumors are very rare but may be suspected in patients with hyperthyroidism associated with a normal or elevated TSH concentration. Apart from the appropriate management of the hyperthyroidism associated with excess TSH production, the management of these tumors presents no special anesthetic problems.
