ABSTRACT
The prevalence of X-linked mental retardation (XLMR) is approximately 1.8 males per 1000 (1). Approximately twothirds of these patients have nonspecific (nonsyndromic) forms of XLMR in which the cognitive impairment is not associated
with any recognizable physical features such as skeletal abnormalities or dysmorphic facial features.
