ABSTRACT

The arduous journey of a new pharmaceutical product along the development path from the laboratory to the marketplace involves 100s of people, 1000s of tasks, and up to 10-15 years or more. With an average of 75 products moving through this long and complex process at any one time, pharmaceutical companies face the enormous challenge of interweaving the efforts of groups throughout the company to keep these projects on schedule, within budget, and at the highest level of quality.
