ABSTRACT
Gait disturbances are among the most important motor problems associated with Parkinson’s disease (PD). They are the presenting symptom in 12-18% of the cases and will affect all patients as the disease progress (1,2). Gait disturbances can lead to falls, insecurity, fear, and loss of mobilization and independence, and institutionalization (3). The possibility of losing the ability to walk and the need for a wheelchair is one of the compelling concerns and fears of patients when they are first informed that they have PD. ‘‘When will I need a wheelchair?’’ is one of the most common questions asked by a recently diagnosed PD patient.
