ABSTRACT

In addition to the more commonly known herpes genitalis and herpes labialis, both HSV type 1 and 2 can cause a variety of cutaneous manifestations in both children and adults. Cutaneous manifestations of the disease can vary significantly depending on immune status, predisposing skin conditions, genetic predisposition and history of recent procedures. Although most of these diseases are relatively mild in nature, some can lead to significant morbidity if not accurately diagnosed and treated.
