ABSTRACT

Leptospirosis is a re-emerging infectious disease with large outbreaks all

around the world. It is a worldwide distributed zoonosis caused by a spirochete called Leptospira interrogans. The disease has a broad clinical spectrum that ranges from subclinical benign illness to fatal respiratory failure.

The disease is prevalent in tropical regions where its etiologic agent survives

under favorable environmental conditions.
