ABSTRACT

Wound healing is a dynamic process that includes three overlapping phases: inflammation, tissue formation, and tissue remodeling. It involves soluble mediators, blood cells, extracellular matrix, and parenchymal cells (1). Several systemic therapies such as pentoxifylline, cilostazol, stanozolol, oxandrolone, prednisone and methylprednisolone, infliximab, antimicrobials, horse chestnut seed extract, growth factors, and aspirin have been suggested to speed or augment the healing of certain types of wounds.
