ABSTRACT

Is it possible to identify a soft tissue augmentation substance that is autologous, readily accessible, available in solid graft form, easily inserted in an accurate manner, offers permanent correction of contour defects, with a minimum of side effects and without risk of allergy or rejection? Dermal grafting, properly performed, can offer all of these advantages (Table 1). This minor surgical procedure, although employed by various specialties for more than six decades, is surprisingly underutilized by cosmetic surgeons. It is hoped that this chapter will stimulate the practicing surgeon to revisit and to perfect this versatile technique.
