ABSTRACT
One notable demographic trend that human factors/ ergonomics professionals should be made aware of is that the population of the world is aging at an unprecedented rate. Population estimates indicate that by 2025, more than 82 million people in the United States will be over the age of 60. This increasingly large segment of the population is making use of computers. Current estimates indicate that more than 40% of the older adult population aged 65 uses computers, and this percentage is expected to rise as computer technology becomes even more pervasive.
