ABSTRACT

The definition of creativity has long been debated. Depending on the type of research, the context, questions addressed, and the time in which the creativity is defined, this concept is associated with a wide range of activities, characteristics, and outcomes. The Handbook of Creativity generally defines creativity as the creation of something (a product, thought, art, process, etc.) that is new and valuable (Sternberg and Lubart 1999). New is anything that possesses the quality of originality, novelty, or uniqueness. Valuable is broadly defined as the ability to elicit worth, usefulness, or appropriateness.
