ABSTRACT

Ergonomics began in Iran from the early 1970s as a university course. In 1971, Dr. Nader Kavoosi, one of the Iranian pioneers in ergonomics, translated E. Grandjean’s outstanding book into Farsi (Persian) and this event became a starting point for introducing ergonomics to Iranian academic, and later industrial, domains over the next decades. In 1976, Dr. Houshang Shahnavaz started his academic activities (including teaching ergonomics and conducting basic ergonomics research) in Iran at the Sharif University of Technology.
