ABSTRACT

In 1980, Dr Ayoub received the IIE ergonomics division award for significant accomplishments in the theory and application of ergonomics, which is now called the M.M. Ayoub award. During the 1980s, he was involved in research activities supported by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the US Air Force, developing human capacities in manual handling activities for industrial applications and application for the crew chief program, an air force maintenance program. These data for the industrial population were published in manual materials handling manuals. The air force data was used to assist in the design of aircraft to ensure that aircraft maintenance work is within air force maintenance personnel capacities.
