ABSTRACT

Pertinent History. He is a 20-year-old, single, black male on trial for fi rst-degree murder and attempted murder. He began drinking alcohol in substantial quantities around the eighth grade and drank to intoxication on special occasions on which he chose to celebrate. He denied using illicit drugs. He dropped out of high school in the tenth grade. Although he had no serious illness, he had received a gunshot wound to the head a few years ago, resulting in a 3-day hospitalization. Subsequent to this incident, he reported migraine headaches, jaw pain, and nonspecifi c memory problems, although he showed no apparent memory disorders.
