ABSTRACT
The implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
and No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act has revolutionized the way students with
disabilities are educated in the United States. Children with disabilities of various
types are no longer excluded from mainstream education. Under IDEA, students
with special needs must be placed in the least restrictive environment for their
education. IDEA brought about the practice of inclusion, a strategy whereby the
majority of students with special needs are placed in regular education class-
rooms in which the teacher coteaches with a special education teacher.
