ABSTRACT

While clearly the concept of business process reengineering lost its visibility over the 1990s, some of the key concepts associated with it have become quite imperative to the survival of current business organizations. We identify and discuss other philosophies that have emerged in the wake of the reengineering phenomenon. These include enterprise resource planning (ERP), supply chain management (SCM), customer relationship management (CRM), and business intelligence (BI). Organizational business processes have also become more complicated since they involve business organizations and customers from across the globe. The need to effectively manage these business processes and supply chains, is essential in this new digital economy. It is important to accept that technology will play a significant role in this emerging global economy.
