ABSTRACT
After briefly introducing the history of Hungarian literacy, libraries, publishing, record keeping, and museums, this entry gives an overview of Hungarian libraries, the discipline of information science, and the library and information profession, including education for library professionals, and professional associations in the country. A similar review follows about archives: an overview of the different kinds of archives, archival science, education for archivists, and the issue of electronic records. The last section of this entry describes the various kinds of museums, museology, education for curatorship, and professional associations in Hungary.
