ABSTRACT

This entry provides a detailed overview of the key elements involved in managing archival institutions in the twenty-first century. Focus is on effective leadership exercised in the paradigm of organizational complexity and relationships. Core management functions of organizing work; planning; and managing financial and human resources are described in the context of dramatic societal change and the unique role which archives fulfill in society.
