ABSTRACT
This entry surveys the history of libraries and librarianship in Saudi Arabia. It traces the development of librarianship from a branch under the Ministry of Education into an independent field that has become closely tied with the Information Industry. It also briefly touches on museums, archival institutions, and library professional associations in Saudi Arabia.
