ABSTRACT

The aim of this work is to draw an attention of specialists to the potential usefulness of the similarity theory in solving various geodetic problems. Using the theory of similarity provides an opportunity to solve several practical engineering problems in a completely new way (Wang, Chong 2019). As it is possible in geometry to determine the height of the tree or the width of the river using the theory of similarity of triangles, and in geodesy as well (in other science also), there is a possibility to calculate the values of measured parameters without equalization even if they contain a systematic or input values errors.

The concept of similarity theory can be extended to any physical phenomena, but it is very important to ensure that systems’ parameters where the phenomena occur are unchanged or factors which are affecting changes of the system are considered.
