ABSTRACT

Just as we did not offer an Introduction pre-empting the reflective essays, so we are not writing a conventional conclusion that attempts to summarise (and thus flatten) the various circlings around our themes and byways. Rather we offer a series of ‘entries’ and quotes (in some kind of order) that further reflect on, perhaps extend our musings and provocations above-below-alongside the many subjects of the volume.

There is movement and movement. There are movements of small tension and movements of great tension and there is also a movement which our eyes cannot catch although it can be felt … This special movement was discovered by the futurists as a new and hitherto unknown phenomenon in art …
