ABSTRACT

In chapter 11, Chris Munro, Margaret Barr, and Christian van Nieuwerburgh explore the concept of coaching cultures and its implementation. Drawing on a different range of psychological theories and approaches that have also proved to be effective, they describe some of the other ways that coaching can be introduced more widely into schools. Their work is illustrated by reflections from practitioners in Australia and the United Kingdom. They argue that the creation of a whole-school coaching culture led by heads and senior leaders results in changes in attitudes and habits across many aspects of school life, creating more positive and supportive organizational climates for learning and personal growth.
