ABSTRACT

In chapter 14 , we give the last word to ten school leaders from different contexts. They describe—often movingly—the central emotional and psychological challenges of their leadership experience. The purpose of the chapter is to offer some insights about the normal range of experience of life as a school leader. They reflect on their thoughts and feelings, their ideals and values, and their learning and development. Where relevant, they draw on the ways in which coaching and other approaches to leadership development described in this book have helped and supported them. Although there are many common recurring themes, each voice reflects an individual and personal experience.
