ABSTRACT

George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950) was an Irishman, early Fabian, music-critic and dramatist. His best-known works are Man and Superman, Saint Joan, Candida, You Never Can Tell, Mrs. Warren’s Profession and The Apple Cart. The prefaces to his plays are works in themselves. He was undoubtedly influenced by Ibsen but had a powerful personality with decided views on politics and economics. Read The Intelligent Woman’s Guide to Socialism and Capitalism. In Man and Superman two of his major themes—the life force and the power of woman over man are to the fore.
