ABSTRACT

According to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (2018), 51 million children under 5 years of age suffer from starvation and 38 million are overweight. The number of malnourished children in Indonesia has risen 0.1% compared to the previous year. Determinants of children’s health status can be seen in nutritional status and monitored regularly at the Integrated Health Post, the Posyandu. The weight gain of toddlers in Posyandu at Padasuka was only 60.85% in 2018. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between visit intensity to Posyandu and toddler nutritional status. The study was conducted in Padasuka Bandung during the period January 14–15, 2019. This study was an analytical study with a cross-sectional research design. The study was conducted on 210 subjects with sample selection by cluster sampling. The visit intensity of children under 5 years of age to Posyandu was assessed using questionnaires and the weight was measured and plotted in a weight chart according to age. A statistical analysis test was carried out using the Fisher’s exact and Spearman analysis methods. The result of the analysis showed a relationship between visit intensity to Posyandu and toddlers’ nutritional status (p = 0.004). Furthermore, there was a correlation between visit intensity to Posyandu and nutritional status (p = 0.013) of 17.06%. Posyandu as community-based support also play an important role in increasing mothers’ awareness of the nutritional status of their toddlers.
