ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of cogongrass (Imperata cylindrica L) roots ethanolic extract (CGRE) in blood triglyceride. Mice were given CGRE intragastrically with dose 90 and 115 mg/kg body weight (BW) for two weeks. The non-treatment group was used as a control. Triglyceride absorption assay and triglyceride serum level were measured at the end of treatment day. Triglyceride absorption were reduced 60% in mice that were pre–treatment with 90 and 115 mg/kg BW CGRE compare to control (p<0.05). As conclusion, CGRE has an effect to reduce triglycerides absorption in the small intestine.
