ABSTRACT
Business models are assigned importance in building competitive advantages and creating the value of business entities. A lot of elements decide about the type of the adopted business model, including the closer and further environment. The conditions resulting from the dynamically changing environment are the basic reason for the evolution of business models. These conditions are determined primarily by the place of the company's operation. Location in a specific place in an area defines access to production factors, final recipients, infrastructure, and fiscal solutions.
For this reason, the statistical sample consists of enterprises located in individual voivodeships in Poland. The analysis covered data referring to the dimension of the business model, which refers to the structure of costs and mechanisms for generating revenues. Only the group of high-growth enterprises (HGEs) was taken into account. It was recognized that the rapid increase in revenues is characteristic of enterprises contributing the most to economic development. The parameters of the trend function for the number and fraction of HGEs in the population of all active enterprises in individual European Union countries were estimated. On this basis, development tendencies in Poland were compared with tendencies in other European Union countries in this respect. The following research problem was formulated: The location of enterprises significantly affects the results achieved, and therefore, the functioning in a given voivodeship translates into the profitability of business models adopted by enterprises.
To solve the posed problem, the authors used the methods of multidimensional statistical analysis. A synthetic index of development of HGEs in a given voivodeship was built, taking into account the financial data confirming the profitability of the adopted business model. Estimated synthetic development indicators will enable the ranking of fast-growth enterprises located in individual voivodeships due to their financial condition, which will allow concluding on the profitability of the business models adopted in them. The stability of the position in the ranking for the analyzed groups of fast-growing enterprises was also assessed, which will allow identification of the voivodeships in Poland favoring the development of enterprises in the analyzed period.
