ABSTRACT

This chapter showcases the transition of the Business Ethics course at the Faculty of Management Technology, the German University in Cairo, from one focused on ethical dilemmas to one focusing on teaching through Giving Voice to Values case studies. It starts by reviewing international literature on business ethics, Corporate social responsibility, and sustainability education. The chapter highlights some Middle Eastern context issues. The transcendence of corporate scandals that took place in the last several decades had grasped considerable public attention related to shortcomings in ethical decision-making associated with these events while at the same time led to questioning the nature and effectiveness of business ethics educational approaches. Business ethics education is said to face some possible challenges and potential obstacles that might jeopardize its effectiveness.
