ABSTRACT

Pheripheral areas are conventionally depicted by physical and social degradation, poor services, lack of public spaces.

In the project of urban regeneration for Sant’Avendrace district in Cagliari (Italy), accessibility played a key role in connecting functions and spaces, thus reviving the marginal character of the area.

The reported experience describes the operating framework of interventions proposed as a mean of implementation of a national urban Program, paradigmatic of an important change in the approach to urban regeneration policies.
