ABSTRACT

In extant literature on border management and national security, little attention is accorded the policy frame of the agenda that will guide the implementation of the blueprint of management. This study envisages filling this gap in consideration of the fact Nigeria is confronted with enormous security challenges emanating from permeable borders which consistently threaten her national security. The overarching assumption in this exploration is that the security and well-being of a state are determined by what happens at the borders, which is why border management is sacrosanct for the survival, peace and stability of any nation. The key components of integrated border management are discussed. This study strongly believes that if an agenda is properly articulated, implemented, resourced and monitored, it will enable a wide range of benefits to the government and the people.
