ABSTRACT
The experience of previous Olympic Games underlines the growing importance of security at mega-events. Public as well as private actors, such as private security companies (PSCs), work together to cope with risks. This chapter takes a closer look at how these strategies are enforced and how they might influence city development in terms of surveillance. I conclude that some measures enforced during the Olympic Games – such as the installation of cameras – are unlikely to be stopped after 2020 and that the responsibilities of PSCs in society are likely to increase.
