ABSTRACT
The distribution and diversity of Apis florea in relation to its host plants and role in agriculture in Keraka are discussed. Urbanization, interference by the public to destroy the natural domicile and other ecological factors have resulted in the decline of the dwarf bee population. A. florea is contributing a major share in the pollination of many crops in Kerala; it should be protected from extinction so as to achieve ecological stability and food security.
