ABSTRACT
Subsurface drip irrigation (SDI) is generally defined as the application of water below the soil surface through emitters, with discharge rates in the same range as drip irrigation. Most SDI laterals are installed at a depth sufficient to prevent interference with surface traffic or tillage implements and to provide a useful life of several years as opposed to annual replacement of surface or near-surface drip laterals.
