ABSTRACT
One of the unique regions of the world, the Everglades of south Florida has steadily decreased in size and declined in health during the past century. Half its wetland area has been lost to agriculture and urban development and the remaining segments are impacted by lack of a clean, dependable water supply. The Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) has been developed to address and reverse these major changes to this unique wetland ecosystem.
