ABSTRACT
1. The development of internal audit as an accepted commonplace in medium-sized and large scale business enterprises and in local government and public authorities is a thing of the present century. The more widespread adoption of internal audit has corresponded with the tendency for growth in size and complexity of these organisations and with advances in techniques of management.
