ABSTRACT

The late Mr George Johnston Hutton.—The death took place, ou the 6th of January, after a short illness, of Mr G. J. Hutton, in his sixty-fourth year. He was the son of Mr James Hutton who for many years had a school in Nicolson Square. He was educated at the High School, and afterwards entered the Accountants’ profession, being trained partly in Edinburgh and partly in London. More than thirty years ago he entered the office of Messrs Lindsay, Jamieson, & Haldane, and remained with them until the time of his death, being for many years chief Assistant in their Audit Department and latterly Cashier. Mr Hutton carried out most efficiently the work entrusted to him, and gained the confidence and respect of all those with whom he came in contact.
