ABSTRACT

Charles Ker, one of the oldest members of the Institute of Accountants and Actuaries in Glasgow, passed away while at work in the Glasgow office of the London Midland and Scottish Railway, of which he was a Director; he was also Chairman of the Scottish Committee of the Railway. Charles Ker was admitted a member of the Institute of Accountants and Actuaries in Glasgow in 1883. He served on the Council of the Institute from 1896 to 1899 and from 1910 to 1913, and was President from 1924 to 1926. In the years 1898 and 1899 he was a member of the General Examining Board, and from 1924 to 1928 he represented the Glasgow Institute on the Joint Committee of Councils, and for part of that time he acted as Chairman of that Committee. He was a donor to the funds of the Glasgow Chartered Accountants’ Benevolent Association, and served for several years on the Executive Committee of the Association.
