ABSTRACT
The chapter on the dynamics of Kashmir identity traces historically the Kashmiri culture of inclusivity embedded in its Reshi mystic traditions and the challenges it has encountered during the past 70 years. Tracing the rise of militancy, the abnormal politics, violence, and state repression, illustrates how Kashmir Valley, because of its ethos, has not seen serious inroads by radical religious extremism.
